Belated Valentines Dinner…

imageWe usually never go out on the eve of Valentines Day, restaurants tend to be overcrowded, they run highly expensive specials and there is a lack thereof of service, also since I had three early morning classes to teach the next day staying up late and drinking champagne (yes us instructors do have fun as well) was not a option. Therefore last night after my usual sunset walk with Kona my puggle we ventured out for a belated Valentines dinner. We ended up going to a new wine bar in town, “The Wine Bistro”, which took over a old local joint “The Fish Bucket” and I can say it has been nicely redone . Upon arrival I was impressed of what they had done with the place, we started with drinks  Bram chose the “Blanco” Wine Flight and I had the “Red Eye” bubble flight, I highly enjoyed the Gerard Bertrand Cremant de Limoux -French bubbles are the best !!  I liked it so much I helped myself to a glass later in the evening which Bram shared. For food –   we shared the Southern Bell Salad, Bram had the Portobello Raviolli (the Brussels sprouts with Pancetta we’re amazing 🙂 ) and I had the Blanco flatbread, for a treat we had the Coco my Churro (yes I eat sweets too- you got to live a little).  The meal was good and well enjoyed we would defiantly come back, the waitress did tend to be slow to take orders but she was really sweet, however the kitchen and bar made up for it by turning the food and drink orders around quick, also I was not in a hurry or hungry so I did not mind.

The couple next to us had ordered the chicken and waffles, while we were eating our salad we we’re overcome by the aroma of peach syrup,  Bram and I both thought it smelled so good. We ended up talking with the Chicken and waffle couple over desert as they wanted to try the churro which we offered to share they were a nice people and they highly recommend trying the chicken and waffles. I am not normally a waffle gal but if Bram try’s it next time I might just need to take a bite as they smelled devine! The best part of the dinner… The bill! I had purchased a living social months ago to this restaurant and we ended up walking out with just paying 30 bucks… Thank you living social 🙂

The Wine Bistro has live bands that play at 9 pm and they have a bottomless mimosa brunch. This lady loves live music, brunch and mimosas !!!  Check this place out next time you are around town in Dana Point..  Cheers!!!image
